HATTA DRIVE- MOUNTAIN SAFARI

The Hatta Mountain Drive offers a thrilling escape from the city, taking visitors through the rugged and picturesque Hajar Mountains. This scenic drive, often tackled in a 4×4 vehicle, provides spectacular views of the dramatic, rocky landscape and is an adventure in itself, often including stops for photography amidst the wadis (dry riverbeds) and mountain formations.

A highlight of the area is the Hatta Heritage Village, a reconstructed open-air museum that provides a captivating glimpse into the traditional mountain life of the past. Visitors can explore the ancient fort, watchtowers, and traditional stone houses, all showcasing historical architecture, preserved artifacts, and weaponry from the region’s rich cultural history.

For a taste of local produce, the Honey Garden (or Honeybee Garden) is a unique stop where guests can learn about the fascinating world of beekeeping and the process of honey production, often with the chance to sample and purchase local Hatta honey.

The serene Hatta Dam is a popular destination, surrounded by mountains and famed for its stunning turquoise-blue waters. This impressive reservoir offers breathtaking photographic opportunities, especially against the contrast of the rocky peaks and the clear blue water.

Activities on the dam’s reservoir center around Kayaking and other water sports like paddle-boating and canoeing. Renting a kayak is a favored way to peacefully explore the expanse of the dam, paddle close to the mountainsides, and fully soak in the area’s tranquil natural beauty.

​While not always included in standard tours, the Hatta area is near natural desert formations. One can visit Camel Rock and Fossil Rock in the general vicinity (often part of desert safari legs of some tours or as separate stops), which are iconic natural landmarks offering insights into the geological history of the region and fantastic photo backdrops.
